Sports Performance
If you’re a competitive or recreational athlete who wants to run faster, jump higher or hit harder, you probably want an edge to help maximize your genetic potential. Iron Quest Fitness has trained dozens of track and field athletes, hockey players, football players, triathletes, marathoners, 5k runners and many other athletes. How do we know how to train athletes?
Your program designer, Jason McCammon, was a collegiate athlete nationally ranked in two different sports! It did not come easy to him - he had to work his butt off for it - as he wasn't "born" a good athlete like some. Where Jason was not as naturally talented he made up for it with a phenomenal work ethic. Mostly without an actual coach through out high school and college, it was only through researching advanced training methods and sports-specific nutrition was Jason able to compete at the national level. This personal success along with the professional successes of training division I college football and track athletes has enabled Jason to know how to make an athlete perform optimally.
Unless you have the knack for endless hours of research, trial and error, then more trial and error, there is much more to increasing your performance in your given sport than just hard work. If you are like most post-secondary or post-collegiate athletes, you have a busy life with a career and family. You may only have a few hours a week to train which is why you could greatly benefit from being on a properly designed training program, tailored to your body and your sport.
Q & A
Are you consuming the right foods and supplements at the right time to both fuel your event and recover from training? Believe it or not, even many professional athletes do not do this correctly. Are you cycling (periodizing) your training such that you vary the intensity versus the volume to maximize performance while staying short of over-training? Over-training for just a few weeks can knock you down from your optimal conditioning for months. Do you know how to rehab an injury, work the antagonistic muscle patterns properly to avoid over-compensation, and secondly, how to work yourself back into full blown training while avoiding re-injury? Our runners actually run fewer miles on average, yet still set new PR’s regularly. This can save your body years of wear and tear. Hiring IQF to help you avoid the common pitfalls of training independently is an invaluable investment that will last your entire recreational or competitive career.
Specifications
Jason will give you a complete physical exam, evaluating your strengths, weaknesses and flexibility, then design your advanced conditioning program for your sport.
- Clients will learn how to cross-train and perform plyometrics without taking away from their core work.
- If maximum strength is your goal, you will be trained with the most advanced methods available such as wave-loading, rest pauses, over-coming isometrics, supra-maximal loading and ballistic/dynamic just to name a few.
- Learn how to fuel your sport – what you eat in and around training is absolutely crucial. Just slamming a Powerbar and some Gatorade is a far cry from optimizing nutrient timing to get the most out of your body. You will be taught which carbs and proteins to consume and when, plus you’ll find out how runners can sabotage their training by eating too little fat or not get enough of the right fats.
- Jason can design your workout shake customized exactly to your training and sport. Jason can mix dozens of different types of proteins, carbs and specialized nutrients like BCAA’s, creatine, l-carnitine, MCT’s and more. This can mean the difference between 1st and 1st to last or being the hitter rather than the hittee.
Jason has helped tri-athletes cut their time in HALF, line-backers increase their vertical leap by 7 inches and put 50 pounds on their bench press, 5K runners routinely set new personal records and golfers hit drives 20-40 yards longer.
